21 million Bangladeshis don’t have access to clean drinking water. Despite there being ample water, it’s often so heavily contaminated that people who have no other choice but to drink it, regularly get sick from water-borne diseases.
This project involves a team of water experts first analysing the public water source in a school in Bangladesh. They will then build and install a water filtration system that is designed to remove the specific sediments, minerals and/or chemicals that the school’s particular water supply contains. Members of the local community will then be trained on how to maintain the filter system themselves so they don’t have to rely on outside help. An average of 2,400 people will gain access to a sustainable source of pure drinking water for each water filtration system installed.
